Lehigh Gorge State Park
Scenic view of Lehigh Gorge State Park
Lehigh Gorge State Park is the region’s premier destination for dramatic river scenery and outdoor recreation. The park follows a narrow, steep gorge carved by the Lehigh River, with wooded slopes, striking rock formations, and an old railroad grade that has become part of the D&L Trail. It is a beautiful setting for photography, hiking, biking, fishing, and watching whitewater rafters and kayakers move along the river.
The 26-mile Lehigh Gorge Trail is the park’s most accessible route: a mostly level, point-to-point rail trail suited to hiking and cycling. While the grade is manageable, visitors should still research trailheads, shuttles, weather, water, distances, and gear in advance, particularly if planning a long bike ride or a more remote section of the gorge.
