Zukovitch’s Farm Market & Rough Cut Barbeque

Food from Rough Cut Barbeque

Inside of Zukovich Farm Market

Rough Cut Barbeque and neighboring Zukovich’s Farm Market make for one of Tamaqua’s best hidden local stops—a relaxed country outing where you can enjoy a hearty meal surrounded by working-farm scenery. Rough Cut serves authentic barbecue slow-smoked over apple wood, including pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and chicken, along with satisfying sides such as fresh-cut fries, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and more. Grab a seat outdoors, order a birch beer, and take in the view of the surrounding fields; the setting is as much a part of the experience as the food. Rough Cut is open seasonally, typically Friday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., beginning the first Friday in May and running through the end of October.

Right next door, Zukovich’s Farm Market has been family-run since 1997 and features seasonal produce, much of it grown on the farm itself. Stop in for sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, birch beer, preserves, pickles, salsas, homemade ready to eat foods, and other local pantry favorites. Later in the season, the market becomes an especially charming fall stop for pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and seasonal displays, while pick-your-own flowers add another reason to linger during the growing season. It is an easy place to build a Tamaqua weekend around: barbecue for lunch, a walk through the market, and a bag of farm-fresh goods to take home.
