The Italianate brick depot was built after an earlier wooden station was destroyed by fire and later became part of the region’s important coal-and-rail transportation network. Saved from demolition and restored through the work of Tamaqua Save Our Station, it now serves as a heritage center where visitors can appreciate the original station architecture while watching rail activity along the active Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern line.

Take time to explore the station grounds before or after your meal: rail-related displays include historic rolling stock, a locomotive, cabooses, and a former yard tower, while the station itself remains a stop for Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern excursion trains to Jim Thorpe. Inside, the restaurant offers comfortable casual dining, a full bar, and a menu ranging from sandwiches and burgers to seafood, steaks, chicken Marsala, braised short ribs, and popular appetizers such as hand-rolled mozzarella sticks and crab-stuffed mushrooms.
