The winery is particularly celebrated for its Grüner Veltliner, a grape Galen Glen helped pioneer in the United States. The family planted Grüner Veltliner in 2003—the first winery east of the Rockies and only the second in the country to do so—and its 2022 Stone Cellar Grüner Veltliner later earned 94 points from critic Stuart Pigott. Galen Glen has also been named Best Pennsylvania Winery at the New York International Wine Competition, while its 2018 Fossil Vineyard Riesling received Best in Pennsylvania recognition at the Pennsylvania Sommelier Judging.
